On 23rd April, the hand-over ceremony of the fitness facilities and books donated by Chinese Embassy was held in the parliament.

During the speech, H.E. Amb. TANG Songgen reviewed the history of the Communist Party of China(CPC). The year 2021 marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the CPC. Under the leadership of President Xi Jinping, China has secured major strategic achievements in the COVID-19 response and achieved the goal of eliminating extreme poverty. Based on the one-China principle, China will follow the principle of sincerity, real results, amity and good faith and the principle of pursuing the greater good and shared interests for developing relations with Kiribati. The Embassy will promote the cooperation focused on infrastructure, livelihood, sustainable development and people to people exchange.

Hon. Speaker Tangariki Reete expressed gratitude to the assistance by Chinese Embassy. The fitness facilities will make the parliament more active in responding to the need of the people and make an example in maintaining a healthy mind and body. The books will introduce China and its development progresses. Hon. Speaker also appreciated the Chinese cooking class made by the Embassy.
