On 6th October, 2023, the Chinese Embassy held a reception celebrating the 74th Anniversary of the founding of the Peopls’s Republic of China, the 4th Anniversary of the resumption of Diplomatic Relations between China and Kiribati and H.E. Ambassador Zhou Limin’s assumption of office. H.E. President Taneti Maamau and First Lady Teiraeng Maamau, Honorable Ministers and MPs, Secretaries from Ministries, Unimwane and Unaine, Church leaders, Mayors and clerks, CEOs, members of diplomatic corps, local Chinese community and friends from all walks of life in Kiribati attended the reception. 

H.E. President Taneti Maamau extended warmest congratulations to the People’s Republic of China on the occasion of its 74th Anniversary. President Maamau said that China’s achievements are remarkable and inspiring. Kiribati commends China’s commitment to international cooperation and its active role in addressing global challenges. The Belt and Road Initiative has had a transformative impact for developing countries. The resumption of diplomatic relations between Kiribati and China is a significant milestone in the history. Since September 2019, the relationship with China has blossomed and witnessed the positive impact of the partnership across various sectors. May this partnership continue to thrive, bringing prosperity, progress, and happiness to the people of Kiribati and China.

H.E. Ambassador Zhou Limin reviewed the historic achievements of the development of the People’s Republic of China, introduced the bright prospects of China's economy, and elaborated on the impact of Chinese modernization and the concept of global community of shared future for mankind. Ambassador Zhou emphasized that over the past four years, the bilateral relations between China and Kiribati have achieved fruitful results and a brighter future lies in cooperation and collaboration between the two countries.
